For those who want to know a bit more about me and my story, read on.
Well, I was born and raised in New Jersey but I moved to New England right at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic. I started singing and doing musical theatre in Middle School and followed that passion into College at Montclair State University in 2014 where I graduated with a BFA in Musical Theatre.
I started doing live music entertainment when I lost my father to suicide in 2014. This is when I started writing my own music and release my first EP 'why I am' encompassing around hope, dealing with mental health issues, and unity.
But...with that journey came more than 10 years of various addictions and issues. I'm not mad about it though. I am extremely grateful that I got to have some once in a life time experiences throughout it all. The good, the bad, and the ugly.
I got to sing in a New England Party Band called Three Times Distilled. I've had the opportunity to travel around the US and Europe. I got to record music and learn how to produce music at studios in Colorado, Philadelphia, and Boston as well as work with some of the most amazing studio musicians I have ever met. You can see some cool photos of my recent friends here from my most recent recording session at Plaid Dog Recording Studio.
Over the last two years I did a lot of changing when it came to my own music. I've been through a cycle of random genres since I started this journey but always chose to play my Martin guitars instead of my various electric guitars. I started as a simple singer-songwriter and learned how to play more jazzy and poppy style renditions of songs by ear. Throw some rock and blues in there too.
But, in 2024 I went to see Billy Strings at Hartford Amphitheater. All by the grace of god a close friend in recovery called and said he had an extra ticket and asked me to come along.
Something unlocked in my brain at that show. "How does this guy get his guitar to sound like that!" I was seeing music differently and hearing more than I ever did before. I started gravitating back to my acoustic roots, trying to break through a barrier on what the instrument could do.I went to WV for a week to see family and met an amazing bluegrass teacher, musician, and instrument builder (Jim Morris). I invested in a looper pedal and other effects and tried to bend my understanding of what I could get my mom's 1980s Martin to do.
Now, if you care a lot about genres I would say that my sound became a combination of blues rock, bluegrass, country, psychedelic folk, and ghost folk. I've been inspired lately by Phish, Goose, Billy Strings, Tyler Childers, Zach Bryan, Nathaniel Rateliff, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Colter Wall, and Stephen Wilson Jr. just to name a few of the top of my head. When it comes to playing private gigs, the genres expand further but with my own little twist added to them. I'm still learning so much and I haven't been the same since.
You will hear this change In my latest studio EP 'Clean House' which will release Spring 2025 but there is a LOT more currently in the works.
...
